Week 8: Reporting
This module requires the entire
classroom’s presentation. Students will
provide a written report from personal
observations made on Lancaster
Avenue. |
Week 9: Site Assessment
Students will learn to keep journals,
perform interviews, take pictures, make
drawings and document existing
conditions of the Lancaster Avenue
Corridor from 52nd street through City
Avenue. Unlike, the “Reporting” module,
students will collaborate with primary
source participants, i.e., storeowner,
neighbors, friends’ etc. This module
includes field walks and area review. |
Week 10: Demonstration of
Sustainable Technologies
Identify and create a reuse and
recycling culture. Set up a school and
/or home based recycling system for
paper, plastic, aluminum, and glass. |
Week 11: Biolabs Project
The Biolabs are open- space exterior
portals located at 6136 Lancaster
Avenue. These Biolabs will illustrate
storm water management techniques
and urban conservation and
landscaping methods. |

Week 12: Green Roof Project
This Project also located on the
Lancaster Avenue site will demonstrate
adding green space in an impervious
area. Green space projects promotes
reuse of the storm water resources,
reduces erosion, flooding and non-point
source pollution. |
Week 13: ‘Adopt-A-Creek’ Program
The Adopt-A-Creek Project was created
to facilitate cleanup and experimental
projects and environmental awareness
programs at the Indian Creek (66th &
Sherwood Road – Morris Park,
Philadelphia). This watershed
management approach is used to
identify and evaluate water quality
issues. |
